How much does solar cost in Athens in 2026?

Why there is no price list
A solar system is not an off-the-shelf product; it is a project. Two houses on the same block can differ by 20% in the cost of the same system, because one has easy access with a material hoist while in the other the equipment goes up by crane and the cabling runs through three floors.
That does not mean there are no orders of magnitude. It means any figure given before the site survey is an estimate – and anyone who gives you a final price over the phone will revise it later.
What shapes the price
Capacity in kWp
Cost per kWp falls with size: the fixed costs (permitting, study, transport, mobilising the crew) are spread over more kWp. A 10 kWp system does not cost twice as much as a 5 kWp one.
Roof type & mounting

Equipment & warranties
The difference between an inverter with a 5-year warranty and one with a 10-12 year warranty shows up in the initial price – and in the total cost of ownership over twelve years. The same applies to the 25-30 year performance warranty on the panels.
Storage
Adding LiFePO4 battery is usually the single largest item after the panels. It makes sense when your consumption profile is evening-weighted or when you need backup.
What a serious quotation should include
If you are comparing quotations, make sure they all contain the following. Otherwise you are not comparing prices – you are comparing different projects.
- Exact panel and inverter models, with their technical datasheets
- Mounting frames with a reference structural calculation and wind-load resistance
- Electrical materials, panels, AC/DC protection and lightning protection
- HEDNO permitting and a contract with a supplier – stated explicitly, not to be agreed later
- Commissioning, configuration, production monitoring app
- An installation warranty, with a stated duration and clear scope of cover
Payback: the number that matters
Cost on its own tells you nothing. What matters is how quickly the system returns the capital, and there the critical factor is not the purchase price – it is the rate of self-consumption and the size of your current bill. The more expensive the electricity you buy today, the faster the investment pays back.
